Happy New Year IAPSS! I truly hope you were able to enjoy some rest and relaxation over the Christmas break. I’ve learned that for me the only way to do this is by detaching myself from my iPhone. Sure, it’s hard to do, especially the first 24 hours when your reflexes just naturally reach for that phone, seemingly attached to your side. However you are able to find rest, I hope you found it and are energized and ready for taking on what 2016 will bring.
The IAPSS Annual Meeting was a huge success thanks to so many of you including the IAPSS Office Staff! New venue, pertinent learning strands, leadership builders, networking, and an awesome recognition banquet. In case you missed it, I have two words for you: leadership matters. You know this to be true because you pour yourself into developing your local leadership team. To that end, it’s vitally important for us ‘leaders of the leaders’ to stay sharp and focused. The IAPSS Conference provided timely learning opportunities for us as superintendents. Please take advantage of not only what your Association has to offer, but what value you can add to the Association.
Be on the look-out for upcoming events such as the IAPSS Winter Seminar January 27 in Plainfield and don’t forget to register for AASA in Phoenix February 11-13.
I wish everyone a safe, enjoyable, and productive 2016!
Scott Hanback, IAPSS President
