“A good beginning makes a good ending.” I love this quote. It reminds me that as we enjoy closing out the 2015-2016 school year, superintendents are already setting the foundation in their districts for 2016-2017. This summer we will frantically work to not only get caught up on the projects left to the wayside while we put out fires throughout the school year, but to prepare the stage for an excellent start to the next school year. Stir in some much needed vacation to unwind and recharge and that’s the secret recipe for success. If you are running on empty today I encourage you to build in that time of refreshing, most likely through a personal hobby or spending time with family. We are at our best when we are rested and alert. Thank you for all of your efforts on behalf of your staff and students across Indiana!
If you haven’t already, be sure to mark your calendars for the annual IAPSS Winter Conference scheduled for December 4-6, 2016 at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Indianapolis. Also, I look forward to seeing you at the upcoming IAPSS President Installation Program in Munster, IN June 9-10, 2016. IAPSS President-elect Dr. Jeff Hendrix has arranged a very nice program including an architectural boat tour through the river in downtown Chicago. Please support your association and Dr. Hendrix by registering for that important IAPSS event.
I wish you the very best as our schools turn into the home stretch.
Dr. Scott Hanback, IAPSS President
