I have been involved with IAPSS for the last 22 years. This event is the highlight of the year for this organization. We continue to have great leadership with Executive Director J.T. Coopman at the helm. Our roles as public school superintendents are fluid in that they are ever-changing, not only in our responsibilities, but also in the issues that we need to fight for within our state. The role that we play on a state legislative front and in our local communities is the most important one of our careers. There are many challenges that we face in the years ahead. Together, we need to continue to use our voices to make sure that there is equitability across the state in regards to funding, accountability, and support of our public schools.
I look forward to and am honored to be chosen as the President of IAPSS. Congratulations to the other in-coming officers. I remain humbled to follow in Dr. Jeffrey Butts’ wake. He is leaving a big pair of shoes to fill! Thank you to my peers for your votes of confidence. I hope to serve you well.
