Dr. J. T. Coopman, Exec. Director
I would like to thank all who attended our Fall 2018 District meetings. I would especially like to thank our IAPSS District Chair Persons for their preparations for our meetings:
District I – Dr. Stacey Schmidt
District II – Dr. Phil Downs
District III – Jason Callahan
District IV – Doug Allison
District V – Dr. Kent DeKoninck
District VI – Bryan Rausch
District VII – Dr. Darrell Bobe
District VIII – Dr. Mark Eastridge
The presentations by IDOE with updates on school safety and security and legal updates, Restorative Discipline Practices by Children’s Policy and Law Initiative, Janaue’ Hanger, and Superintendent Contract Updates from Lewis and Kappes Attorneys were well received and appreciated.
We are looking forward to the IAPSS Annual conference on November 28-30 at the Westin Hotel in downtown Indianapolis. In addition to a dynamic agenda, our keynote speaker is Dr. Doug Reeves who will highlight effective leadership in a high accountability environment.
As we reflect on Veteran’s Day, let’s thank and recognize our troops and first responders who protect our freedoms and communities. They are the ones who run toward danger to protect us. Let’s never forget what a great country we live in and how we have many elements of freedom that are exempt in other places in the world, including high-quality public schools.
I also wish each of our members and families a wonderful Thanksgiving. This is the time to give thanks for the wonderful bounty we are blessed with, but most important is the bounty of our loved ones. Never take a day for granted and never take your health for granted. These are a blessing that can be taken away in a flash.
I want to thank each of you for your leadership and support of IAPSS, YOUR professional association.
