Partnership to Support Early Literacy Development Announced
Today, (August 18, 2022) Governor Eric J. Holcomb and Secretary of Education Dr. Katie Jenner, in partnership with the Lilly Endowment, Inc, made a public announcement outlining a historic funding initiative to support student learning in Indiana. A combined $111 million investment has been established to support early literacy development through the instructional support strategies based on the Science of Reading. These funds will allow the utilization of instructional coaches to enhance and supplement current literacy efforts in Indiana schools and will offer teacher stipends to those participating in professional development focused on the Science of Reading.
